Neuroplasticity is the ability to forge new brain pathways and to bring them to the fore as well as let older ones, not serving us well, rest.

When a person has built a repertoire of negative self- talk built from stories told by their learning environment (See post: N is for Narrative), and reality testing the validity of those stories, a member of staff, student or parent is in a position to create new positive stories based on real experience.
So, for example, the negative story I was told repeatedly over 25 years was that I had no skill in tracking and measuring progress. However, as a Transformational and Business Coach I do this all the time and have been commended by clients and trainers for my skill. By allowing myself to see the validity of their feedback and using the saying ‘I am skilful at tracking and progress measurement’ I now feel confident. I can also see that the context of tracking and progression for my lessons struck my core values as meaningless whereas the developmental progress work, I now do seems meaningful.
So by reality testing the stories told, the ones we believe and by using this evidence to attune our brain patterns to self-belief, we can take powerful hold of our futures and become who we are truly meant to be.
